What Is A Special Ion Exchange Resin?

Mar 28, 2024Leave a message

The so-called special ion exchange resin, as the name suggests, is not the same as ordinary resin! The two words "special" are mainly different from ordinary cation and anion resins. It has two main meanings:

1. "special" reflects the selectivity of the resin to a specific pollutant ion.

Therefore, the special ion exchange resin we say here is a resin with selective adsorption ability for a certain or several target pollutant ions.

Ordinary resins do not have this property, we can say that it is not selective or universal (the same type of ions it will adsorb) ion exchange resins.

Of course, the basic structure of special resins is the same as that of ordinary resins, and the special thing is that their functional groups are different:

The functional groups of special resins are modified by special molecular chemical reaction on the basis of the functional groups of ordinary resins or directly use substances with special affinity for certain pollutant ions as functional groups.

2. "special" reflects the difference in resin function.

Different special resin application fields, industries, methods of use and uses will be different, it can be said that different target pollutant ions need different resins to adsorb and remove, and even specially designed for the particularity of some industries with different particle sizes and different pore sizes of resins.

For example:

  • Food grade resins for the food, drinking water and beverage industries;
  • Resin used in sewage treatment; Preparation of pure water polishing resin;
  • Electroplating wastewater chromium removal resin (except trivalent, except hexavalent chromium resin);
  • Electronics, electroplating, mining and other industries to recover platinum, palladium, rhodium and other precious metal resin, adsorption of gold resin;
  • PVC mercury-containing wastewater mercury removal resin, chemical industry solid catalyst resin;
  • Powder resin for covering filter in condensate treatment of power plant;
  • Aluminum resin removal from aluminum-containing wastewater such as aluminum-positive oxidation and pickling of aluminum profiles;
  • Acid recovery resin for steel pickling, stainless steel pickling and other industries;
  • Phosphorus removal resin for domestic sewage, chemical fertilizer, pharmaceutical and other wastewater;
  • Drinking water to remove fluorine, nitrate, arsenic resin;
  • Decolorizing resins (syrups, juices, etc.);
  • Concentration hydrochloric acid purification iron removal resin;
  • Salt water calcium magnesium special resin;
  • Brine COD removal special resin;
  • Boron removal resin for pure water industry;
  • The resins corresponding to other industries, fields, and different pollutants are special resins.
  • Differentiating advantages of special ion exchange resins
