Ultra-pure Water Resin Storage Methods And Precautions

The general procurement of ultra-pure water resin is a large batch of procurement, so resin storage has become a big problem, improper storage will cause irreversible loss of ultra-pure water resin. Therefore, the storage method of unopened new packaging ultra-pure water resin and unopened resin is introduced to you.

 

1.The storage of new ultra-pure water resin
The new ultra-pure water resin that has not been used, when the original packaging bag is placed under appropriate conditions, is stored even if it exceeds the recommended storage period, in most cases there will be no decline in physical properties. For more than two years of storage, the recommended storage period is less than the recommended value in the table below, but when the storage period exceeds the recommended storage period, it is recommended to test the standard characteristics of the ultra-pure water resin.
The ultra-pure water resin must be stored in its original packaging, in a cool and dry place, and the best room temperature for storage is 0 ~ 30oC. When the storage temperature is higher than 30oC, the exchange capacity of the negative ultra-pure water resin, especially the ultra-pure water resin in the form of OH-, will decrease, while the positive ultra-pure water resin can withstand a higher temperature (up to 50oC), it is best to store all ultra-pure water resin under the same conditions. When the temperature is lower than 0oC, it will cause the icing of ultra-pure water resin, and the temperature must be avoided below -18oC. DOWEX* ultra-pure water resin subjected to repeated ice-melt cycle tests show that there will be a breakup of ultra-pure water resin particles, so frozen ultra-pure water resin should first be allowed to dissolve before safe filling, and they should be slowly and completely dissolved at room temperature.

 

2.It has been stored with ultra-pure water resin
As with the new ultra-pure water resin, when conditions permit, the used ultra-pure water resin should be stored under environmentally controlled conditions in order to extend its service life as much as possible. In addition, measures must be taken to prevent it from being exposed to the air, drying and shrinking, and the ultra-pure water resin particles will be broken when the dried ultra-pure water resin is rapidly wetted. At this time, the dry ultra-pure water resin should be moistened with 10% sodium chloride brine, and then diluted with water to replace the brine to prevent the breakage of ultra-pure water resin particles caused by rapid changes in osmotic pressure. In order to reduce the problem of microbial contamination, the deactivated system should be sealed with concentrated NaCl solution. In addition, concentrated NaCl solution can also prevent the icing of the ultra-pure water resin. The preservation steps of the ultra-pure water resin used in the desalting system are as follows:
After the failure of the ultra-pure water resin, fully backwash the ultra-pure water resin layer;
Prepare 15-25% NaCl solution, and introduce the concentrated brine into the exchanger until there is no air in the ultra-pure water resin;
When the exchanger is put into operation in the future, the concentration of brine must be gradually reduced to reduce the impact of osmotic pressure of ultra-pure water resin.
The ultra-pure water resin bed must be regenerated twice or three times before operation.
For mixed bed ultra-pure water resins for condensate or ultra-pure water systems, the ultra-pure water resin must be converted into a regenerated state:
Layer the ultra-pure water resin to perform double regeneration;
Rinse off the regenerant and place the ultra-pure water resin in the rinse water;
Periodically replace the water stored in the ultra-pure water resin (once a week) to remove any TOC dissolves;
Rinse and regenerate the ultra pure water resin in the normal way before commissioning.
