Macroporous resin is a kind of organic polymer which is insoluble in acid, alkali and various organic solvents. The separation technology using macroporous resin is one of the new separation technologies after ion exchange resin developed in the late 1960s. The pore size and specific surface area of macroporous resin are relatively large, and there is a three-dimensional three-dimensional pore structure in the resin, because of its high physical and chemical stability, large specific surface area, large adsorption capacity, good selectivity, fast adsorption speed, mild desorption conditions, convenient regeneration treatment, long service cycle, suitable for forming a closed cycle, saving costs and many other advantages.
Macroporous adsorption resin is mainly made of styrene, methyl-styrene, methyl methacrylate, propanitrile and other raw materials with a certain amount of pore-causing agent diethylbenzene polymerization, mostly spherical particles, the diameter is generally between 0.3 and 1.25mm, usually divided into non-polar, weak polarity and medium polarity, swelling in solvent, stable to dilute acid and dilute base at room temperature. From the perspective of microstructure, the macroporous adsorbent resin contains many network pore structures with microspheres, the total surface area of the particles is large, and there are certain polar groups, so that the macroporous resin has a large adsorption capacity. On the other hand, the pore size of these network holes has a certain range, making them somewhat selective to the compounds that pass through the pore size according to their molecular weight. Based on the principle of adsorbability and molecular sieve, the organic compounds are separated by solvent elution on macroporous adsorbent resin according to the different adsorption force and molecular weight.
The extracts obtained by the macroporous resin adsorption separation process are small in volume, non-moisture absorption, and easy to be made into various dosage forms with beautiful appearance, especially suitable for granules, gum capsules and tablets, and upgrade the crude, large and black preparations of traditional Chinese medicine to modern preparations. As far as the macroporous resin technology itself is concerned, its process operation is simple, not very cumbersome, not difficult, and the resin can be used many times, but also can be used repeatedly, the cost is not very high, the equipment is simple, and this process can save a lot of energy consumption, auxiliary materials, packaging materials, storage, transportation and other costs.
