The principle of boiler softening resin regeneration

Nov 16, 2023Leave a message

The main function of boiler softening resin is to remove calcium and magnesium ions from water through ion exchange. However, after the resin is replaced to a certain amount, it will no longer be able to replace sodium and magnesium ions in water. At this time, it is necessary to regenerate the boiler softening resin. However, many users are not familiar with the regeneration operation of boiler softened resin, which leads to problems during regeneration. this

The principle of boiler softening resin regeneration

When the boiler softening resin replaces a certain amount of hardness ions such as calcium and magnesium in the water, it will no longer be possible to soften the water. At this time, a water softening machine is needed for resin regeneration, which is the reduction regeneration method after resin calcium pollution.

(1) When regenerating strong cation exchange resin with Na solution, it is advisable to adopt a step-by-step regeneration method. Start regeneration with a low concentration of Na solution, as the Ca2+concentration desorbed from the resin is high, but the Na concentration is low. Even if a small amount of Ca2+Na precipitate is formed, it will be washed away by the solution. Then gradually increase the Na concentration, at which point Ca2 desorbed from the resin+

Low concentration will not form Na precipitation.

(2) Due to the fact that weak cation exchange resin is regenerated using waste liquid from strong cation exchange resin. Therefore, while entering the acid, the weak cation exchanger must be filled with diluted water (JF9201 filtered water), and the water inlet should not exceed the acid inlet of the exchanger. Also, pay attention to observing the color of the regenerated waste liquid discharged from the weak cation exchanger. If it appears as a white turbid substance, even if the acid concentration is adjusted.

(3) After the acid is added, the weak cation exchanger must be immediately replaced and cleaned with filtered water from JF9201, while the strong cation exchanger must be replaced and cleaned with purified water immediately.

(4) In winter, due to the low temperature of the regeneration solution, calcium pollution is more likely to occur. Therefore, before regeneration, the weak cation exchanger must be scrubbed and backwashed, and the pipeline for regenerating waste liquid between the weak cation exchanger and the strong cation exchanger must be backwashed to prevent potential problems. This process takes 2-3 hours inside the soft water equipment and is commonly referred to as backwash regeneration of the soft water equipment. A certain amount of resin regeneration agent (Na) will be required depending on the type of water softening equipment.
