Lanlang Mixed Bed Resin

 

Lanlang® TY MB-C is a high quality resin mixture composed of strong acid cation resin in H+ form and strong base type 1 anion resin in OH+ form. Ready to use and one-way use as supplied. It is designed for general purpose deionizing applications and spot-free rinsing, such as WEDM, window washing, aquarium etc. It can achieve almost complete reduction of TDS and conductivity <0.1 µS/cm.

Application of mixed bed resin in EDM

Mixed-bed resins are commonly used in Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) as a crucial component of the water filtration systems used to purify the water used in the EDM process. EDM machines are commonly used in the manufacturing of various metal parts and workpieces that require fine detailing or deep cuts. During the EDM process, metal is removed from the workpiece via a series of electrical sparks occurring between the workpiece and the electrode. These sparks cause the metal to disintegrate into small particles, which are carried away by the dielectric fluid that surrounds the workpiece.

Dielectric fluids are typically water-based, and they require regular filtration to maintain their purity and effectiveness. This is where mixed-bed resins come into play. Mixed-bed resins are composed of both cationic and anionic ion exchange resins that work together to remove ions and impurities from the water. The cationic resin removes positively charged ions such as calcium and magnesium, while the anionic resin removes negatively charged ions such as chloride and sulfate. The resulting water is free of impurities that could negatively affect the EDM process, such as rust, scale, and other contaminants that could damage the electrode or workpiece.

 

Mixed-bed resins offer several advantages in EDM applications. They are more effective at removing impurities than single-bed resins, as the combination of cationic and anionic resins allows for more complete removal of all types of ions. Additionally, they have a longer lifespan than single-bed resins, which ultimately saves money and time.
